How To Complete “The Extortionist” Quest In Escape From Tarkov

The Extortionist is a Quest that can be accepted from the NPC Skier once the player has reached Level 7.

The Quest rewards players with some incredible loot, and it is for this reason that we’ve made this guide on how you can successfully complete it. 

Primary Objectives

The primary objectives of the Extortionist Quest are twofold: 

1. Find and obtain the Hidden Valuable Cargo (a.k.a. Secure Folder 0048) on the Customs Map
2. Deliver the Hidden Valuable Cargo/ Secure Folder 0048 to Skier. 

Additionally, there are two secondary objectives in the quest: 

1. Trackdown or locate the body of Skier’s errand boy or Messenger. 
2. Find out exactly where the valuable cargo had been hidden. 

Required Key 

In order to successfully complete The Extortionist Quest, players must obtain the Unknown Key. 

The following is an image of the Unknown Key as seen within the game: 

The Unknown Key can be found on a body that is covered with the bushes depicted below. These bushes are right behind the “Welcome To Tarkov” truck that can be found in the Customs map. 

Moreover, the key can be obtained from the Flea Market and as a random drop from Scav bags. 

Locating the Cargo

The Hidden Valuable Cargo, or Secure Folder 0048 that we are looking for, can be found in a Cabin to the Eastern side of the Customs map in what is known as the Crane Area or the Shipping yard. 

This Cabin looks very similar to a metallic compartment or shack. 

Players should make their way over to this metallic cabin with extreme caution as it is likely that they might find themselves in gunfights in this region. 

After players open the door and walk inside they will find a jacket on one corner of the cabin. Underneath the cabin players will find Secure Folder 0048. Which is the valuable cargo they must deliver to complete the Skier’s Quest. 

Extraction Points

Once the player obtains the Secure Folder 0048 they must make sure to Extract it out of the Customs map without dying or else they will lose possession of the Quest item, forcing them to obtain it all over again. 

Some of the recommended Extractions include: 

1. ZB-1012 Extract 
2. Old Gas Station Extract

The Rewards

Upon successfully delivering the Cargo to Skier players can obtain the following loot: 

1. 575 Roubles depending on the Intelligence Centre Level.  
2. You can raise your Skier Rep by +0.04
3. +3,200 EXP 
4. 1× Molot VPO-209 .366 TKM carbine
5. 3× AK 7.62×39 30-round magazine 
6. 20× .366 TKM AP-M

Important Points to Remember

Although the Extortionist Quest is quite straightforward there are certain aspects of completing quests in Escape from Tarkov that players need to remember. These points include: 

1. The Quest item, such as the Secure Folder 0048, can only be found on the map if the Extortionist Quest is active otherwise it will not appear. 
2. Once quest items are picked up they are moved to the player’s Quest item inventory.
