Ben Affleck Shuts Down Hopes for ‘Good Will Hunting 2’

Ben Affleck, who appeared alongside Matt Damon in Good Will Hunting in 1997, has shut down any chances of a sequel to the film. Damon had previously hinted that a script for a sequel had been suggested, but Affleck has since denied that there are any plans to produce a sequel. The Oscars for Best Original Screenplay were given to Damon and Affleck, and the picture made $225 million on a budget of only $10 million. In the 1997 movie, Damon plays an unlikely mathematical genius, encouraged by Robin Williams’ kind Professor.

In Kevin Smith’s 2001 film Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, the two made light of the concept of a sequel by filming a spoof of Good Will Hunting 2: Hunting Season. Anything is possible in Hollywood, so they could revisit the picture that launched their careers.

The upcoming film Air, starring Ben Affleck, is about creating the Air Jordan brand of athletic shoes, and Affleck is presently marketing the film.
