Nicholas Hoult revealed that he turned down a role in Mission: Impossible 7 on a phone call with Tom Cruise due to a prior work commitment.

In an interview with The Guardian, Hoult explained that he was already attached to do some more episodes of Hulu series The Great, which made it impossible for him to appear alongside Cruise in the upcoming two-part “Mission: Impossible” finale.

Hoult, who previously screen-tested for Batman and Top Gun, shared that he got a call from Cruise offering him a role in the franchise, but he had to decline because of his commitment to The Great.

He was originally cast to star in Mission: Impossible 7 in January 2020 but was later replaced by Esai Morales.

Mission: Impossible 7 is set for release this summer, with the first part titled Dead Reckoning Part One. The franchise has been a massive box office success, with the previous installment “Mission: Impossible – Fallout” grossing over $791 million worldwide.

The action-thriller film series has been known for its high-stakes stunts and action sequences, many of which Tom Cruise performs himself. Cruise has been a driving force behind the franchise, starring in all seven movies and producing the films.

The franchise has also been known for featuring a rotating cast of actors, with each film bringing in new faces to work alongside Cruise. The cast for Mission: Impossible 7 includes Vanessa Kirby, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Henry Czerny, and Rebecca Ferguson, among others.

Although Hoult wasn’t able to join the Mission: Impossible franchise, he clearly made an impression on Cruise, who personally offered him a role in the movie.
