Ben Affleck, in a recent interview, revealed that despite his friendship with Matt Damon, his cleanliness and hygiene habits are not up to the mark. Affleck, who is currently starring with Damon in the movie “AIR,” shared some of the shocking details of their time living together.
Damon’s poor living habits
Ben Affleck described Matt Damon as a brilliant guy but revealed that he would not suggest living with him. The actor further explained that Damon had a habit of blocking out the idea of washing or throwing away things after using them.
He added that after cleaning up after Damon for years, he and his brother Casey went on a strike and waited to see how long Damon would go without cleaning the apartment.
It turned out that Damon went weeks without doing anything about the mess, which included piles of garbage and even maggots.
Affleck shared an incident where he came home to find Damon in shorts and a t-shirt, playing video games and surrounded by concentric circles of garbage.
Pizza boxes, a sushi box that was a week-and-a-half old, and maggots were all part of the mess. Affleck and his brother decided to submit and acknowledged that Damon’s messy habits were unbeatable.
Friendship and acting careers
Affleck went on to praise Damon’s wife, Lucy, for dealing with his filthy habits. He called her a “saint” and acknowledged that there was a place for her in heaven.
Damon and Affleck have been friends for decades, meeting when Damon was 10 and Affleck was 8.
The two actors expressed their love for acting at an early age, which drew them to one another. They both starred in the 1997 movie Good Will Hunting, which was their breakout role.
The duo co-wrote the film while they were roommates.
