- Is Cammy in Street Fighter 6?
Capcom’s seminal Street Fighter manages to outdo itself with every iteration and offers. And despite the lukewarm reception of the last big-budget title in their arsenal, they are all set to make a solid comeback with Street Fighter 6.
But, with all new characters and a different storyline than the one we had been following for ages, will the tournament to determine the world’s strongest warriors remain the same? Or will the cast and setting change to reflect the new direction Capcom is taking them?
One such ideally returning character is Cammy. So, is Cammy in Street Fighter 6?
Before we find that out, let’s take a look at the fighter’s past.
Cammy – The Past
Street Fighter 2: The New Challengers
Debuting under her codename, the Killer Bee, Cammy made a splash as part of the new roster in the extended cut of the second game, Street Fighter II: The New Challengers. This expansion to the base game also introduced T. Hawk, Fei Long and Dee Jay to the roster.
Described as one of the results of a ghastly experiment done by the Shadaloo organization, not much is known of Cammy’s past before she was introduced to the games.
But as a secret character, Cammy was said to be an assassin, part of M. Bison’s network of assassins who did his dirty work worldwide.
Afterward, she became a playable character and was revealed to be an MI6 Operative from Britain, after she was rescued from Bison’s program sometime in the past.
All convoluted histories aside, Cammy ultimately is on the side of the good guys and is a genuinely caring and considerate person.
Street Fighter Alpha II Gold
In her next entry, Cammy was relegated to the role of a secret character. Cammy’s past was explored as part of Bison’s squad and closest members.
Despite only being selectively playable in the first version of the game, her inclusion and story beats were given a complete facelift in Street Fighter Alpha: Anthology, and she was given a proper storyline and ending as well.
Street Fighter Alpha III
Cammy then appeared as a fully playable character in Street Fighter Alpha III, and her backstory was retconned to being a clone created through Bison’s DNA.
Go figure. Audience reception was great and by that point, she was a solid representative of the efforts to diversify the original Street Fighter cast.
Street Fighter IV
Street Fighter IV eventually rolled around, and Cammy was one of the base cast in this game. In the story, we further discover her motives and the desire she expresses to destroy all traces of the software that Bison was using to control her as a clone.
Regardless, her story beats were good enough to warrant her place in the setup. And she had also won a poll where fans were asked which character they wanted most to return in 2008.
Street Fighter V

Cammy continued her dominance in the 5th mainline entry, entering as one of the strongest characters in the game.
While no significant storylines came in her wake, her individual style had been perfectly carried over, with the same rushdown punishment style of gameplay she had been known for over the years.
How Does Cammy Play?
Historically, Cammy has been an extremely rewarding character, both in her rushdown style and the aesthetic moveset she came with.
As stated above, Cammy is one of the best up-close-and-personal characters in the game, her moves exuding confidence and the ability to keep the player in the corner for as long as possible.
Playing Cammy also has historically required a lot of confidence, as one critical miss can allow keepaway ranged characters to completely negate her.
She needs to be in very close quarters to be effective, similar to a lot of other fighters like Liu Kang from the equally-loved Mortal Kombat games.
Cammy has great mobility and ability to whiff punishments, which is when players miss their hits on you. Cammy counters with blistering pace and will punish button mashers with ease.
Being very good in the air, she also has a lot of both horizontal and vertical attack options. She also has a lot of moves that are safe on block, so she doesn’t give her opponents much of a window to punish her.
Cammy’s only cons are the obvious low HP throughout the series, which does not allow for many risks to be taken in a fight.
The second and final con of her is that because she is very easy to pick up and play, that makes her very basic by default, allowing her moves to be broken down just as easily.
In essence, she has a very low skill floor, and an equally as low character complexity as far as the opponent is concerned.
Is Cammy in Street Fighter 6?
As it stands, the signs are there that yes, SF6 Cammy could be a possibility.
Cammy is not only a fan favorite but also a great pick for players who love putting consistent pressure on their opponents and picking good defenses apart.
On top of that, she is just a very fun character to master, with an impressive competitive presence throughout the years.
If the character’s low health issue could be resolved, there is no reason why SF6 Cammy couldn’t become one of the strongest characters to ever exist on that roster.
Despite that, there hasn’t been much of a mention of the series regulars in the promotion material leading up to launch, so we might see Capcom completely flipping the script or introducing her in a manner not expected before.
Regardless, we will be covering her moveset in detail further down the line if she does manage to make it to the list. Meanwhile, you can also check out our character overview for Ryu and Chun-Li!
