Diablo 4: Players Request Return of Classic Feature for Season 1

Diablo 4, the latest installment in the popular action RPG series, is set to launch its first season in mid-July.

However, players are already expressing their desire for the return of a beloved feature from Diablo 3.

A Nostalgic Request

Diablo 3 had a rocky start but eventually found its stride, introducing features players grew to love. Now, as Diablo 4 prepares to roll out its first season, players are hoping to see the return of one of these features: the Rebirth System.

This system allowed players to keep their characters after the end of a season, a feature that many found to be a significant quality-of-life improvement.

Diablo 4’s Seasonal Gameplay

Diablo 4’s seasonal gameplay will differ from its predecessor’s. Each season will come with a Battle Pass, similar to those in games like Genshin Impact or Overwatch 2. Players can earn cosmetics, crafting resources, and currency as they progress through reward tracks, which will be available in both free and premium versions.

Each season is expected to last about three months, giving players plenty of time to progress through the Battle Pass at their own pace.

The Issue with Character Creation

In Diablo 4, players can create characters for the Eternal Realm, a game mode that isn’t affected by seasonal content. They can also create characters specifically for Seasons. The idea behind creating a seasonal character is to start from scratch each season, with the community racing to the top of the leaderboards once again.

However, with the character creation options in Diablo 4, players often become attached to their heroes. This attachment has led to calls for the return of the Rebirth System from Diablo 3, which allowed players to keep their characters after the end of a season.

The Potential Return of the Rebirth System

The good news is that the Diablo 4 development team has already discussed the possibility of bringing back the Rebirth System alongside the gem storage possibly changes. While it wasn’t planned for the game’s launch, the team has been monitoring feedback on the system.

The ability to keep characters after the end of a season was a significant quality-of-life improvement for Diablo fans, and it’s clear that the Rebirth System is sorely missed in Diablo 4.

Looking Ahead to Season 2

While the Rebirth System might not return until Season 2, which is rumored to launch in late October, there are many reasons for Blizzard to consider bringing it back. Players care about their characters, and being able to keep them after a season ends could encourage more players to engage with seasonal content in Diablo 4.
