As Diablo 4’s inaugural season, the Season of the Malignant draws near, players are gearing up to face the new challenges it brings.
This guide will walk you through the essential steps you need to take before the season kicks off on July 20.
The Campaign: Your First Step
The first and foremost task is to complete the campaign. If you’ve already unlocked the Tree of Whispers and watched the credits roll, you’re all set. If not, it’s time to dive back into the story before the season begins. Completing the campaign is a prerequisite for accessing the new seasonal content.
Moreover, the seasonal story unfolds after the main campaign, and it might contain spoilers for the main storyline. Once you finish the campaign with any character, you can skip it with all subsequent characters, including seasonal ones.
Saddle Up: Unlock Your Horse
If you’ve completed the campaign, you probably have your horse already. However, unlocking the horse is technically a side quest, and it’s easy to miss. Having a horse from level 1 on all subsequent characters is a significant advantage, as it provides a fast mode of transportation in the game.
Know the Entire Map
Starting from the Season of the Malignant, your map progress will carry over to your seasonal characters. If there are areas on your map that you haven’t explored yet, now is the time to do so. This will make navigation more convenient and give your Renown a significant boost when the season starts.
Power Up: Grab Every Altar of Lilith
Just like the map, any Altars of Lilith you find will carry over into the following season. Finding all of them now will ensure that you start out with a massive chunk of Renown for your seasonal character on day one.
These altars are a must-have for any serious Diablo 4 player, as they increase your character’s power.
Choose Your Class
While you can’t do this in-game, deciding on your class before the season starts is crucial. The seasonal reset provides an opportunity to try out a different class or playstyle. Having an idea of what you want to play before July 20 will save you from indecision on the big day.
Here are all classes of Diablo 4 for your reference.
If you’ve already completed all these tasks, you’re as ready as possible for what’s coming to Sanctuary. All that’s left is to stay hydrated for your marathon session on July 20.
And hopefully, for the upcoming Season 1, this fan-favorite feature from Diablo 3 will be integrated as well.
