Who would’ve thought that Unreal Engine 5 is coming to Fortnite with an editor?
The release of the Unreal Engine 5 Editor for Fortnite is set to open up new possibilities for content creators within the popular game.
Furthermore, the beta version of the editor will be available for anyone to try their hand at starting March 22, providing access to a range of powerful tools that allow for the creation of new games and experiences within the Fortnite world.
All you need to know about Fortnite’s Unreal Engine 5 editor
One of the most notable features of the UEFN is its programming language called Verse, which can be used to design gameplay. Other tools include Niagara for creating visual effects, Control Rig and Sequencer for animating custom characters, World Partition for creating larger gameplay experiences, and Fab for discovering and importing assets.
Designed to become its own platform
Moreover, the UEFN is designed to work in tandem with the pre-existing Fortnite Creative feature, which provides teams of creators the ability to work together to bring their visions to life. This opens up new possibilities for monetizing custom content without having to make a deal with Epic Games, making Fortnite a digital marketplace in its own right.
It should be noted, however, that the UEFN will not be compatible with Windows 7 or 8.
The UEFN will definitely shock the community
According to Tim Sweeney, CEO of Epic Games, players spend half their gameplay hours playing with other people’s content, much of which is modded on PC. The UEFN provides an even greater opportunity for creators to mod and enhances the game, potentially driving even more engagement and growth for Fortnite.
This will give opportunities for world-building enthusiasts
While the UEFN was originally expected to be released last year, its debut was pushed back behind the scenes.
Nonetheless, the beta release is set to provide a glimpse into the future of game creation within the Fortnite world, with the potential for even more advanced tools and capabilities to be added in the future.
However, if things get successful on their end this 22nd of March, we would hope that patches will be on their way for the broken Overclocked Pulse Rifle or at least the Havoc Pump Shotgun. I mean, it’s fun when you get yourself these weapons, otherwise, it would feel the other way around.
