In my opinion, Umbreon is the coolest of all Eevee evolutions. I’ve been called an edgelord for this opinion on more than one occasion. But if you’re here, then you must love Umbreon as much as I do.
To reward you I’m going to show you how to get Umbreon in Pokemon GO, using both the traditional way and the quick and dirty Eevee name trick.
How to Get Umbreon in Pokemon GO (Eevee Name Trick)
Note: This trick can only be done once for Umbreon. So it may be better to save it until you have a shiny Eevee.
The Eevee name trick in Pokemon GO is a trick that guarantees your Eevee will evolve into the Eeveelution that you want.
Eevee Name Trick Umbreon:
- Catch your Eevee
- Collect 25 Candies
- Nickname your Eevee “Tamao”
- Evolve your Eevee and it will turn into an Umbreon
How to get Umbreon in Pokemon GO (Traditional Way)
Getting an Umbreon in Pokemon GO without the Eevee name trick is a little more difficult. The good news is that if you follow these steps, you will be guaranteed an Umbreon once you evolve your Eevee.
- Walk 10km with the Eevee you’d like to evolve as your buddy
- Once you have walked 10km, Evolve that Eevee at night for an Umbreon
Note: If you Evolve the Eevee during the day you will get an Espeon
How to get a shiny Umbreon in Pokemon GO
Getting a shiny Umbreon in Pokemon GO is as difficult as getting a shiny Eevee (so it requires a lot of luck). There’s one statistic you should know:
- Pokemon GO Shiny odds: 1 in 500 (aka 0.2%)
This means that to get a shiny Eevee, you will need to go somewhere where Eevees are abundant and find as many as you can.
Niantic has had Eevee Community Days in the past, which offered higher odds for shiny Eevees, so you can always keep your fingers crossed for another.
Once you have a Shiny Eevee, simply evolve it into an Umbreon and enjoy!
Pokemon GO Umbreon Best Moveset
Now that you have your Umbreon, it’s time to choose the best moves for it! Whether you want to take Umbreon to the GO Battle League or use it to stomp Raid Pokemon, these are the moves you want:
- Snarl
- Foul Play
These are both Dark Type attacks, but that’s perfectly fine. Usually, Pokemon will have an “offensive” and “defensive” moveset in Pokemon GO, but Umbreon is one of the rare exceptions.
Can you Spoof Pokemon GO for Umbreon?
You dirty little cheaters are going to be very happy to hear that you can cheat to get an Umbreon.
There are a few different ways to spoof Pokemon GO, and explaining them is beyond the scope of this guide.
However, if you’ve already spoofed the game, and have an app that allows you to simulate walking in Pokemon GO then those steps will count towards the 10km that you must walk with your Eevee.
